About

The start of Ridgetop Church was a collaboration between the Austin Baptist Association, a handful of local churches, and a core team led by church planting pastor Robert Krumrey.  Robert and his wife Melanie were students at the University of Texas in the 90’s and met at UT and married in San Antonio. After 8 years of serving in youth and college ministry, they moved to Amherst, Massachusetts in 1999 and planted a church that Robert pastored for 22 years. They have now returned to their homeland of Texas to start something new in Austin and are excited for the chance to see God work in a place that significantly shaped their own spiritual journeys during their college days.

The neighborhood around our location (see below) is bursting with a diverse community that includes long-term residents, college students, young professionals, immigrants, families, and many others. Our hope is to see a church planted that will be a place for all kinds of people in all stages of their spiritual journey to gather to learn the TRUTH about Jesus, how to live the WAY of Jesus, all as they experience the LIFE that only Jesus can give.

The church gathers at 708 E 51st Street in Austin, TX where the church formerly known as Ridgetop Baptist Church resided for 90 years. Because of our appreciation of the history of this church’s faithfulness in their community, and our desire to continue that legacy, we have decided to keep the name “Ridgetop”.

  • “We envision a church that is centering on Christ, serving our neighborhood, and sending the next generation.”

In John 14:6, Jesus says, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” We center on Christ by studying the TRUTH of who he is and what he has done; learning his WAY of living in our daily lives, all while depending on his LIFE which empowers us to become more like him.

We believe that those who desire to live in this Christ-centered way can only do so fully as part of a local church who is consistently centering on Jesus, lovingly serving their neighbors, and being sent with the life-changing message of Jesus to their neighborhood and the nations.
