Content :: Context :: Cohort
Join us as we learn gospel ministry in the challenging context of central Austin, in the community of a cohort of fellow pastors, all centered in the content of the gospel.
Here are the four areas of training discussed in weekly cohort meetings and practiced in local ministry contexts.
-
Evangelist
Build up evangelistic skills for engaging unbelievers through the demonstration and proclamation of the gospel. Learn to pray for and engage communities and college campuses in ways that are contextual and without compromising the message of Jesus.
Resources: Questioning Evangelism; Confronting Christianity; Evangelism as Exiles
-
Shepherd
Planting and revitalization require one to effectively shepherd the flock. Work on the skills of disciple-making, pastoral counseling, and leadership development in the context of a church planting core or revitalization effort.
Resources: Redemption; The Pastor and Counseling; Gospel-Centered Discipleship
-
Overseer
Organizing and overseeing ministry is part of every pastor’s responsibilities. Learn how to build and maintain structures at different stages of growth in either a church plant or congregational revitalization.
Resources: The Vine Project, Defining the Executive Pastor’s Role; Transformational Discipleship
-
Preacher
Grounding a church planting core or revitalizing congregation requires preaching that is faithful to the Scriptures and centered on the gospel. Sharpen preaching skills by learning from preaching pastors and by preaching and receiving feedback.
Resources: Gospel-Centered Teaching; Preaching; The Christ-Centered Expositor
